Payment windows

Under Payment windows you will find your window secret. This is the unique key used to connect your e-commerce system to the payment window. If you are developing your own connection to OnPay you can read the documentation here. If you use one of our plugins, you can find guides for them here or from your webshop provider.

It is possible to configure the payment window to match you company's color palette. This is done by adding new payment windows.

If a payment window is not created, OnPay's default design is used.

If a single payment window is created, this will be used as the new default.

If more than one payment window is created, you need to decide which design to use when sending the customer to the payment window.

You can create new payment windows by clicking the New window button:

Create payment window - step 1

This will open a dialog box where you can set the following:

  1. A name for the payment window. This is only used internally to identify the payment window.
  2. The color to use for the payment button and the colored line at the top of the payment window.
  3. The text color for the payment button.
  4. Your company logo.
  5. A text that appears when paying by card.*
  6. A text that appears during the creation of saved cards.
  7. The text for the payment button.

Create payment window - step 2

* According to a press release from the Danish Consumer Ombudsman from 26-01-2023 you are required to inform the customer that the purchase amount is reserved on their card when completing a payment. However this is only relevant for certain cards. We recommend using a text similar to:

"When paying with Visa, Visa Debit and Mastercard, the purchase amount is reserved in your account until payment is made."

Notice: The above should only be used as a guideline for a general wording of the message. If you have any questions regarding this text, we recommend consulting a lawyer.

When your payment window is created, you can edit and change any existing settings in it:

A payment window with the above settings will look like this in the browser:

Example of a payment window

Restrict allowed payment methods

You can choose to limit the available payment methods when editing a payment window under Restrict allowed payment methods:

Edit payment window - Restrict payment methods

This can be useful if you have several versions of your webshop using the same OnPay gateway and you, for example, only want Viabill to be available on certain versions of the webshop.

Retrict allowed cardtypes

You can also restrict the available card types in the payment window under Retrict allowed cardtypes:

Edit payment window - Restrict card types

As with payment methods, this can be useful if you want to restrict which versions of the payment window can access certain card types.
