The menu item Saved cards covers recurring payments on your customers' payment cards. This will typically be used in relation to subscription payments, but it can also be used to make regular payments easier. Once the customer has saved their card in OnPay, you can create and capture payments without the customer having to authorize each time.

Examples of saved cards use cases

Below, you will find examples of how saved cards can be used in OnPay.

The monthly box

You offer your customers a monthly box of relevant products at a set price of 199.- Your customers order this service and pay with their payment card. Each month you charge 199.- to their card with automatic approval and capture.

Easy payment

You have many repeat customers, so you offer that they can save their card with you. They place one order with this option and otherwise complete the purchase as usual. They can now place orders on your webshop without having to enter their card details each time, as future payments are approved automatically.

Open subscriptions with varying amounts

You can offer a range of services to your customers that are billed every 6 months. Your customer subscribes to a service for 999.- and completes the purchase with their payment card. When the subscription renews the customer has added additional services to their subscription, and the price is now 1,499.- This amount is charged to their card at the time of renewal and the payment is completed without needing manual validation from the customer.

As shown in the examples above, stored cards can be used for all types of recurring payments.

Setup in OnPay

To activate the Saved Cards functionality, you have to purchase the module "Subscription payments" from your OnPay provider.

When this module has been activated, you will see the Saved cards menu item in OnPay, which means that you can now offer to save your customers' payment cards via the payment window. Remember to check with your online shop provider if they have a built-in way to register stored cards or if it needs to be developed for you.

We include integration with WooCommerce Subscriptions in our plugin for Wordpress WooCommerce For more information on how to set up your connection to the payment window to create saved cards, see our techinical documentation for the payment window
